Curriculum Information

Everyday Mathematics©

Everyday Mathematics© is the math curriculum program adopted by RSU #1 for grades K-6. It was implemented during the 2001-2002 school year starting with grades K,1and 2. In the fall of 2002 grades 3 and 4 where added.  By the fall of 2003 grades K through 6  participated in the program.

Everyday Mathematics©K-6 was developed through the University of Chicago School Mathematics Project (UCSMP), whose mission is to change mathematics education in the United States. UCSMP studied how young children learn and interviewed hundreds of students and teachers. The Everyday Mathematics© curriculum is a result of the collaborative efforts of researchers, mathematics educators, administrators, students and classroom teachers.  Below are two websites which have parent support pages.

6 Traits of Writing

P.E.S has adopted the Six Trait Analytic Writing Model.  Writing has simply been divided into the six areas, or traits, that teachers value most: ideas and content, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, and writing conventions. Below is a Six Traits of Writing resource website.
